The next few posts are from my other blog. I didn’t do much there and I was tired of paying hostgator for it so americanlibertyblog is now gone.

A Tribute As Such

May 20, 2011

I often lament the fate of the American auto industry. And for that I sometimes get ridiculed. They were too big and slow to react to the market demands. They didn’t give us the little piece of crap cars we wanted. What is the number one selling vehicle in America? No. Not a darn Corolla, a full-sized American pick up truck. Why do you think that is? Because it’s what America wants.

I called the local talk radio station one day. They have a little piece called “what’s bugging you” or something along those lines. I just said, “The Toyota in front of me with the “Proud American” bumper sticker.” The jerk DJ almost tripped over his own posterior trying to suck up to the Toyota dealer sponsor of his. He tried to run me into the ground but I had already hung up and now he wonders why nobody calls him. But I digress.

What is it you do for a living? Are you a craftsman? Are you a professional? Are you a salesperson? Suppose some gubmint agent walked into your place of business one day. And it was obvious from the git go that he had no idea how to do what you do. But he forged ahead and made it law that you had to do things his way. And everything he wanted you to do was exactly the wrong thing at the wrong time. How long would your business last? The auto industry has lasted forty years so far. In the shadow of the EPA. Looming like the angel of death waiting to give another defunct car company the double tap.

Here’s a fact that I know first hand. In other words I was there. I saw it. When I was young I worked as a dealership mechanic. I used to prep new cars for delivery. A car that sold in America for eight thousand dollars sold in Sweden for thirty thousand dollars. That’s almost four times as much. Was it due to shipping? No. Was it due to the exchange rate of money? No. I know you’re wondering, “Well what the heck can it possibly be?” Tariffs and taxes. Swedish tariffs and taxes, to be exact. The Swedes did not want our vehicles in their fair country. But some Swedes were apparently willing to pay that price because I prepped a lot of vehicles for that program. But you know what the funny thing was? A Volvo in America was about ten grand at the time. How can that be?

1979. That’s how long we’ve been taking it in the shorts on that deal. Is that a monument to longevity or what? That company is still in business. For now. How many Volvo’s would we see running around if they were being marked up 375 percent due to import taxes and tariffs? I venture to say quite a few less than we do now. Let’s see, thirty grand conservatively times 3.75 is one hundred twelve thousand five hundred dollars. You going to pay it? Yeah, the Japs are the same way. You going to pay a hundred grand for a crappy Toyota with no cup holders? Didn’t think so. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

Are You Poor

May 19, 2011

Have you ever thought you were poor? Have you seen those people on TV with the flies buzzing all around them? Are they the poor? Who decides who is poor? Apparently in America the Census Bureau, or as I like to call them the senseless bureau (SB). And that decision, in my opinion, is quite poor. Let me show you what I’m talking about. According to the SB about 13.5% of America is poor in any given year. That is an average I have come up with, with figures from the SB that hover between 11 and 16%. That amounts to about 40 million. Hey, that’s the same amount of illegals we’re supposed to have. No relation though.

Now, those people designated as poor by the SB are not even close to being those people on TV with the flies. The American poor, in fact, live quite well compared to other countries. No wonder they hate us, huh? I don’t think that they are watching us suffer with antiquated video equipment while some shyster hawks for thirty-eight rupees a day though. It would seem that 43% of poor Americans own their own home. The heck you say? Yeah. Our poor own the house they live in. Pretty neat, huh? When did you become the proud owner of your own home? I know what you’re thinking, “Yeah, it’s one of those tumble-down pieces of junk over on the other side of town.” No, no, no, my friend, the average home owned by America’s poor is a 3/2 with a garage and a porch. Dang, that’s more than what I’ve got.

More than two-thirds of these “poor” have two rooms per person in the household so they’re not really climbing all over each other either. In fact, according to The Heritage Foundation (see here) “the average poor American has more living space than the average individual living in Paris, London, Vienna, and Athens.” Note that this comparison is America’s poor to the average citizens in the foreign countries. And 80% have air conditioning. Now you can’t tell me that all the American poor are in the south, I’ve been to Detroit, Chicago, and New York. There has got to be some “poor” with air up there too. On top of that 97% have a color TV with over half of them owning two color TV’s, and a full 78% have a VCR or DVD player. Ain’t no flies on that, now is there?

They’re not really stuck in the house either. Three-quarters own a car with almost a third owning two cars. A third of them have both cellular and land line telephones. Dang again. Nearly two-thirds are single-parent homes, if they just got married almost three-quarters would no longer be considered poor. The bottom line is that about one-third of the folks we consider poor are actually poor in the traditionally accepted image of poor. If the other folks considered poor by the SB would just get married and go to work at some of those jobs they consider to be “below” them, poverty would be drastically cut in America. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

Over Here Eric

May 18, 2011

According to the Staten Island Business News the Attorney General (AG) for the State of New York wants some answers. As always the gubmint will be going after the symptom of the deadly disease rather than the cause. Mr. Schneiderman will be meeting with Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, and Morgan Stanley. Now, while my heart is not bleeding for this lot, I still have no desire to see them rounded up and squeezed for something they were only a pawn in. It’s too reminiscent of the firing of auto execs.

The symptom here is the packaging of mortgages for sale to investors. The contention is that this form of investment may have concealed risky loans. What the heck (WTH) are they talking about? Almost all of the loans were risky with the rest being just plain stupid. I remember, I REMEMBER, and I REMEMBER the tongue-tied fags in Congress calling these same banks down to DC to give them a ration of crap for not lending enough money to people that could not possibly pay it back.

It was circa 1993, prime time Clinton era, Bawney Fwank and Christopher Dodd were running the show, just before Newt and the contract with America came down the pike. The fiasco that followed the default on the contract with America took all the spotlight off this little scam. And nobody seemed to care as long as they got the house of their dreams. The libs kept right on forcing the crappy loans down the throats of the banks and the banks kept right on packaging them up and passing them along to the investors, and everybody was mad happy. Life was good and Clinton was our huckleberry. Him and Monica. Honestly.

Then came the day of reckoning. Willie got caught with his pants down. Curious George (Bush) took the reins. And all heck broke loose. “W” wanted accountability, but Dodd and Fwank were firmly ensconced in the seat of power. It was years before the gubmint was brought back to its senses. And by then it was way too late. Everything started to come unravelled and Bawney slipped out the back door and started looking for a patsy. Enter the banks, and here we are.

So now, we are left with this. Another AG named Eric with an ax to grind. WTH? It reminds me of the savings and loan fiasco of the eighties. Then it was the banks to blame. And who did they go after? The appraisers. WTH? I almost feel sorry for them. Our retarded gubmint, I mean. They’re like a fish out of water. Flopping all over the place. And just getting farther from the place they need to be with every move. Oh well, I said almost. I don’t really feel sorry for them. They make me mad. And 2012’s coming. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

Open Carry

May 17, 2011

Sometimes there is just too much time sensitive material to wait for the next day and this is one of those times. When I heard this I came unglued. It was just darn fortunate that I wasn’t pulled over as I was driving at the time. This is the reason why law enforcement has such a hard time. I want these SOB’s prosecuted. The language they use sounds like they should be the ones going to jail. Good for nothing street thugs. My tax dollars are paying for this? This is the future of your Second Amendment rights if we keep going the way we are going. Here‘s another story. Apparently this happened late last week. For those of you who don’t check the youtube or the article, a guy was just walking down the street, minding his business. He was openly carrying his pistol on his hip. He heard a noise and turned to find a, and I use the term loosely, police officer, training his weapon on him and barking orders. Philly is an open carry town. This man did absolutely nothing wrong or illegal in any way. The officer gets cocky, then calls in back up. Back up has no idea what the heck is going on but they blindly back up the first officer. You will have to look up the rest. I can’t take any more of this…. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

Change We Can Live With

May 17, 2011

How’s that hope and change working for you? I always like to ask that just before I give the libs a good dosing of their socialist medicine. And here it comes. I always endeavor to illustrate for those of you who elect not to go to the liberal rags I sometimes direct you to. So, for the astute among you, Timmy “Bevis” Geithner has decided it is best to start by soundly screwing his own first. In other words and more simply put, your federal retirement may not be worth the paper it’s printed on. How do you like me now?

Yes friends, for a short time only (the rest of your life under obamacare) you will be receiving no retirement benefits. This is the gubmints latest attempt to blackmail you into increasing the debt limit. Oh… that’s right. I forgot to give you the rest of the story. Our fiscally responsible stewards of the treasury have once again exceeded all expectations as well as the debt ceiling. And again, how do you like me now? Hey! I’m just the messenger. Save the venom for November.

Now. Get ready for the media frenzy. First they will sound the alarm far and near. Then they will lament the heart wrenching story of how the evil Republicans are starving the elderly. And finally, without shame, they will search the alleys and overpasses to find every derelict transient they can and give them five bucks to call Boehner a jerk for taking their retirement.

Boehner is a jerk but that’s beside the point. This falls square on the shoulders of Mr. Moratorium (Obama) himself. There is one way out of our present predicament and that is to become productive once again. It doesn’t really matter what we produce just so it sells. BS, hope, change, and moonbeams out your posterior aren’t going to do it as Chairman Zero (Obama) is fast discovering. Are you beginning to see why I never fall victim to the Osama – Obama slip of the tongue trap. I just call him everything but his mooslim name. But I digress.

As I understand it more than ninety percent of federal employees are libs in good standing. Retirees are just the same and have been for many moons. So this latest developement is just about the best thing I think I have ever heard. It reminds me of the scene from blazing saddles where Clevon Little grabs himself and threatens to kill himself if anybody moves. Is this what they call the rattlesnakes eating each other? Maybe not but it should be. Anyway, Clevon was able to fool the Johnsons of Rock Ridge but I don’t think Bevis will be able to fool the American people. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

Legislate From The Bench

May 16, 2011

Here’s your rights. Here’s your rights on dope. That’s what it feels like when I hear that the police can come into your house for no apparent reason. The Indiana Supreme Court ruled that a homeowner has no right to resist unlawful police entry into their home. I am not making this up, look here. And that’s from the largest and most trusted media company in northwest Indiana. I just saw that at the top of the page and was compelled to include it here.

Back to the subject, what is meant by “modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence” ? Sounds like legal BS to me. Sounds like we might be legislating from the ol’ bench. This is the kind of thing these dang lib judges have no problem with. Instead of doing their job and upholding the law as it exists they want to twist the meaning of the law to fit their gay agenda. This “modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence” is exactly what I’m talking about here.

Does anyone happen to remember the Fourth Amendment from my series? In case it has slipped your mind here it is; “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”

Are there any “gray areas” that you can see? Any room for “modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence” standing out here? It sounds to me like you can just step out of your vehicle and lock the door when you get pulled over and they have no recourse. This is the Constitution here, not some doped up judges writings. You know? I was feeling pretty good until I heard this crap, and I have been kind of sick ever since. This is a bad place we are going to. Mark that down because here is the next piece of crap.

The Kentucky Supreme Court rules that a police officer who knocks on a door loudly in search of illegal drugs, and then hears sounds indicating evidence is being destroyed may break down the door and enter without a warrant. Aren’t Kentucky and Indiana right across the river from each other? Maybe they’re drinking the same tainted water or something. All I know is there is a lot of crap coming from this particular area right now.

The things we do to be safe from those evil drugs. Oops. We have many corporations hawking them as we speak on radio, television, and in our newspapers. What the heck (WTH)? Anyway, one thing I know is when you’re in Kentucky, if you’re taking a dump and the police come knocking, DON’T FLUSH! Could be some kind of modern Fourth Amendment jurisprudence jubejube going on there. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

It’s Harvest Time

May 6, 2011

These wars we’re engaged in right now, how much do we really know about them? It seems like there is always a lot of secrecy around these things. Some people look at me like I’m an idiot when I make statements like that but my real questions involve things that can’t possibly affect the safety of our troops. Or can they? I would never want anything that might compromise the troops to be made public, but I would like to know why the fighting stops at harvest time.

I can hear the collective WTH (What the heck?) out there. Here‘s one of my fellow bloggers that I think might have figured something out. So, are our troops really guarding the poppy fields? What does the CIA really have to do with all this.

Let’s look at something here. I can go out and shoot someone in the face, kill them, get arrested and sent to jail for less time than some one selling heroin. Why is that? Why are there still people sitting in jail after ten and twenty years for the only crime of selling dope? Why is the federal gubmint so fixated on dope that they even have an agency (DEA) to police it in your town? Are any of these questions ringing a bell in your head? Did you see the pictures of our troops in the poppy fields?

You always hear the stories of the guy who got twenty to life for selling a joint. You can’t really believe it but here is a guy who knows, Eric Schlosser, read the second response. Life in prison for a joint. WTH? I wish he had more there but if you’re really curious you can search him, I am just pointing to what I believe is a problem.

I started noticing this in the seventies. Excessively heavy sentencing for drug convictions. It just wasn’t making sense. Something started to occur to me. People don’t like competition, it cuts into their profits. Johnson & Johnson, Pfizer, Abbott, Merck, Eli Lilly, and Bristol-Myers Squibb are the big money outfits in the United States, listed here in order of top profits. Could they possibly have something to do with these crazy jail terms?

Let’s have a look at this piece from England. Pretty fancy figures. 50 pounds for a gram of heroin in England, that’s roughly $100.00 US. The taliban takes ten percent off the top? How’s that work? Who the heck are they, the gubmint? Lots of goofy things going on there. I don’t know, for my money just bring everybody home. But then, there’s that commie dictator stuff. Why the heck do we have to police force the world? Let’s just take everybodies stuff when we win a war. Don’t forget, I will be back in one week, until next time, screw environmentalists.

VMT, VAT What’s In A Name

May 5, 2011

VAT, the value added tax is really a stupid idea. It has no merit and will do one thing, make American made goods and services cost the consumer more. The additional tax money will go down the giant toilet known as the federal gubmint.

How does the VAT work? Simple, at every stage of production a small tax is added to reflect the value of that particular piece of the overall product. An example would be a car seat. When the cow is raised there would be a tax. When the cow is slaughtered there would be a tax. When the leather is tanned there would be a tax. When the pattern is cut there would be a tax. When the pieces of the pattern are sown together there would be a tax. When the cover is fitted to the seat frame there would be a tax. Are you getting the picture?

What is the VMT? This is an idea that makes the VAT look pretty smart. I had been looking for this for quite a while now, and I couldn’t remember the name of it. A tip of the hat to Rush Limbaugh for bringing it to my attention today. Here‘s a short piece about it, and here‘s an actual copy of one of the drafts of a law that includes it. The IHAC (I Hate America Club) has been kicking this one around for decades and they seem to think they might have a chance at getting it by this administration. I’ve got news for them.

Anyway, here’s the crux of the matter. Chairman Zero (Obama) would have you, the American citizen, pay some inflated BS price to have some electronic POS (piece of sh..) installed on your vehicle. This POS would then record how many miles you drive. At some point after that, let’s say when you plug-in to recharge your battery (Oh. Yeah. You smug slugs with the electric crap will be paying this as well. Did I forget to mention that?) or when you get fuel at the pump, the POS will download all this data to the gubmint and you will probably be electronically transferring funds to them at that time to cover your “taxes”.

Nice huh? Are we beginning to see what the “beast” might be? I’m not worried about this because I have just started a business that is sure to be a huge success. No, I’m not teaching people how to beat the POS, I’m teaching them how to syphon fuel. Until next time, screw environmentalists.

How Do You See It

May 4, 2011

I think the United States has been doing things right for a long time. Industry exploded here and became the best in the world. That was not an accident it was by design. This country was set up to succeed, and succeed it did. And not just at industry. I do not purport to know a lot about finance but many who do have done extremely well in this country. Everything that has been tried here has succeeded on a large-scale.

America has been number one in the world for quite some time now, as evidenced by this clip from the early sixties. American productivity has been unequalled for decades. But lately it seems that things have been falling off. How can this be? Have we been riding on our reputation for too long? Are other cultures more adept at productivity? Or are there forces out there that would like to see us fail? The usual suspects come to mind, Russia, China, Iran. But could there be something else out there trying to put us in the hurt locker. For quite some time now America has been under attack.

America’s productivity is what has made it great. There was a time, not too long ago when “Made In America” meant something really great. It was the best you could own. Everything else was a cheap knock off. Productivity was not limited to products either. American inventions were the best the world had to offer. Other countries proudly copied our designs.

This… is how our country is being attacked. Our productivity is being slowly assassinated. From all sides. Let’s look at the obvious. Unions. They even absconded with the made in America phrase. They have dumbed down our work force until we are barely able to do one task at a time much less produce a product. On top of that we have been taught to believe we are owed a lot more than we are actually worth. Thank you union boss.

How about gubmint schools. They have really done their part to turn us into blithering idiots. Idiots that know how to use a condom, but idiots just the same. Why are these things being done, and who is doing them? This is the simple part folks. It’s also why I hate environmentalists so much. Liberals, socialists, communists, call them what you will but they all hate America. What I can’t understand is why.

This is the assault that has been going on for over a hundred years. It has taken its toll. We are a country that seems to produce nothing, yet consumes enough to produce huge deficits every year. Think about it, when was the last time you purchased something made in America. I’ve even noticed that our produce is coming from other countries now. Why is that?

The problem is Barack Hussein Obama and his cronies. The moratoriums on drilling. The needless “regulations” they impose on people just trying to do business. We are on our way back to productivity but I hear too many people with the idea that we are heading back to the age of polluted waterways and unbreathable air. The laws are in place. They can be enforced. But the business can not be revived while all these obstacles are being thrust in the way. Wake up America. Until next time, screw environmentalists.
