Constitution Pt. 38

Amendment XV

Ratified February 3, 1870.

Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude.

Section 2. The Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

Here we have the Amendment giving slaves the right to vote. As you can see it is not 1,000 pages long. It is short and to the point. The Democrat party continued to fight this for 100 years after it was ratified. The distinguished Senator from W. Virginia and Grand Exalted Cyclops of the KKK, Robert Byrd, filibustered it in the sixties.

As this was short and sweet I decided to include the next one as well.

Amendment XVI.

Ratified February 3, 1913.

The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration.

So there you have it. This is when income taxes started. Until then there were none. Would you care to guess who was President when this happened? That would be Woodrow Wilson. Would you care to make a guess at the party he belonged to? That would be Democrat. Why does it always seem that bad things happen when such good people are in charge? Until next time, screw environmentalists.
