Electric Cars

So. You got yourself a brand new electric car to help “save the environment”. Think you’ll do some real good here, huh? Just plug her in to that little plug in the wall and you’re good to go, right? No muss, no fuss, no standing in line with the mouth breathers at Wal-Mart to get 100% American fuel, eh? Efficient and clean…Whoa, wait a minute.

Have you considered where that power in the little plug comes from? According to the Energy Information Administration’s “Electric Power Monthly”, 46.1 percent of the nations power comes from coal. That means that almost half of you are dumping more pollutants into the air than the mouth breathers. Check it out http://www.eia.doe.gov/cneaf/electricity/epm/epm_sum.html .

The fact is that the power companies are scrambling to provide the power for the electric cars already out there and they predict thirty thousand new ones to come and have no idea how to supply them. One final thought. If cap and trade (Waxman-Markey) is passed how much will it cost per mile for you to travel down the road?
